Inthanon Walkway
Initiated by the Thai Rak Pa Foundation and Doi Inthanon National Park, this project repaired the 150-meter walkway leading to Thailand's highest peak, designed by Ajarn Chulaporn Nantapanich and constructed by Yangnar Studio. Working under strict conservation limits—allowing only a 50 cm clearance alongside the 1.5-meter-wide path—the team faced extreme high-altitude weather, daily rain, persistent tourist traffic, and biting gnats. Timber components were pre-cut below the mountain, including hand-axed teak posts, teak decking and handrails, and hardwood support beams. Completed over four months in 2018, the project now serves as a design model for future national park boardwalks.
