Designed around the concept of a farmer's residence, the project features a shaded ground-floor undercroft (tai-tun) for daytime rest during outdoor labor. The residence consists of two structures: a single-story pavilion housing a study and sitting area, and a main two-story building with a bedroom, living space, and kitchen upstairs over an open ground level. To handle the complex timber framing, new lumber was custom-milled and pre-fitted—including mortise joints for beams, wall plates, and rafters—over two weeks. The entire structure was pre-assembled on the ground to verify measurements before being raised frame by frame for high accuracy.
