ASA Pavillion
Inspired by a trekking trip to Baan Kor Kuang in Nan—where local farmers bound clearing-debris with local vines (khreua din) to create cattle fences—this temporary, zero-waste pavilion was created for an exhibit at Suan Luang Rama IX Park in Chiang Mai. Built entirely from straight, unbent bamboo (Pai Sang Mon and Pai Luak Dam), the project emphasized temporary architecture that leaves the site undamaged. Designed through collaborative hands-on labor, Lisu craftsmen taught architects, engineers, and interns how to bind split-bamboo facades using 400 locally sourced khreua din vines, generating income for the Nan community while reflecting the raw, living craftsmanship of the team.
