Sala Suan Tham
This project marks the first collaboration between the architect and the homeowner (P'Tor) at Ban Suan Tham in Soi On Nut, initially commissioned to build a demountable storage pavilion that will eventually be relocated to Nakhon Nayok. Recommended by Ajarn Prof Chulaporn Nantapanich, the project is constructed entirely for disassembly, using salvaged timber from an old Likay (Thai folk opera) theater, local river rocks as pillar foundations instead of concrete, and a dense thatch roof inspired by Samut Songkhram salt granaries. Built by northern craftsmen from Yangnar Studio, the hybrid structure combines traditional Ruen Khruang Sap (joined timber) and Ruen Khruang Phuk (bound bamboo) techniques, blending vernacular utility with refined craftsmanship, controlled natural light, and raw, weathered textures.
