Adobe House
This adobe house project draws inspiration from traditional Tai Khuen earthen villages in Kengtung, Myanmar, visited by the architect and homeowner. Designed to embrace natural thermal regulation—keeping interiors cool in summer and warm in winter—the architecture emphasizes simple, non-industrialized techniques without heavy machinery or chemical coatings. Reflecting vernacular practices, such as storing harvests in darkened ground floors and hand-firing roof tiles from rice paddy topsoil, the house embodies an understanding that natural earthen materials are meant to age gracefully and deteriorate over time.
