Chang House
This project involves a relocation from Bangkok to Chiang Dao, where the homeowner planned to move with their parents and build a residence on a former one-rai-and-92-square-wah rice paddy field. Designed to integrate materials salvaged from their dismantled Bangkok home—including stripped paint timber, iron grilles, turned balusters, and converted sliding doors—the house features a ground-floor fabric-dyeing workshop and an open-concept upper living level. Facing Chiengdao's landmark mountain to the north, the home incorporates specialized architectural solutions: an exterior wall framing detail adapted on-site to keep dust out while shedding rain, deep southern eaves to shield against harsh sunlight, and translucent roofing over the southern bathroom to lower humidity through natural daylighting.
