Studio Yangnar II
This office structure utilizes pre-existing concrete footings with timber columns extended upward to accommodate future two-story expansion, complete with a flat ceiling hiding structural joists prepared for the upper level. Inside, the layout separates junior and senior staff zones with a planned rear meeting room. Initially fitted with glass louver windows and a metal sheet awning (which replaced a sunshade net), glare issues led the team to introduce interchangeable wooden louver slats and a bamboo overlay—crafted from leftover fence bamboo—on the metal roof to reduce heat, rain noise, and sunlight reflections. Demonstrating adaptive functional design, the corner of the eaves was clipped to grant passage to timber delivery trucks after the workshop shifted deeper into the site.
